STURGIS, S.D. — Yet another high speed chase, as a 68-year-old Spearfish man was arrested following a pursuit along I-90 Sunday night.

Authorities say a Summerset police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit along I-90 near mile marker 50.

With the assistance of the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the suspect’s vehicle was successfully stopped using a tire deflation device near mile marker 44, coming to a stop near mile marker 43.

Despite initial non-compliance, law enforcement, including the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Meade County Sheriff’s Office, and Sturgis Police Department, safely took the suspect into custody without incident.

Scott Clyde, 68, of Spearfish, was arrested and charged with eluding law enforcement and a drug-related offense.

It follows two high speed pursuits that took place last week, resulting in several arrests.
