New York man seriously hurt after crashing semi on I-90

NEW UNDERWOOD, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a 19-year-old man from New York was injured when the semi he was driving overturned on Interstate 90, three miles west of New Underwood, SD.

The DOT is planning a lane closure on Monday, February 24 at 9 a.m. to remove the vehicle from the median.

The name of the driver has not been released.

At approximately 5:38 a.m. this morning, a Volvo semi was traveling westbound near mile marker 75 on Interstate 90 when the vehicle entered the median and overturned onto its driver’s side. The driver sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries, and a passenger in the semi was not injured.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
