Rapid City structure fire results in fatality

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the 4500 block of South Canyon Road Thursday at 4:30 p.m., following a passerby’s report of smoke coming from the attic area.

 

Upon arrival, Truck 3 encountered minimal smoke from the back window and immediately proceeded to make entry.

 

The interior revealed challenging hoarder-like conditions.

 

Unfortunately, there is one fatality from the incident.

 

The Rapid City Fire Department and Rapid City Police Department are jointly leading an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

 

There are no preliminary signs of foul play.
