Law Enforcement searching for individual who fled traffic stop

STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office says they are looking for an individual who fled from deputies Thursday night.

Sheriff Pat West says his deputies attempted a traffic stop in the Northdale area outside Black Hawk at around 9:40 p.m. He says the driver of the vehicle stopped and then fled on foot.

West says law enforcement searched for the individual, hoping to find him due to the cold weather.

West says they know who the driver is and were looking for him Friday.

Along with the Meade County Sheriff’s Office, the Summerset Police Department and South Dakota Highway Patrol aided in the search.
