SPEARFISH, SD – Early this morning, the Spearfish Fire Department, aided by additional local fire departments, knocked down a fire in a commercial building at the corner of 5th and Illinois streets in Spearfish.
There were no injuries reported, and fire units remain on scene.
Illinois Street between Main and Canyon streets and Canyon Street from Illinois to Hudson streets, along with associated alleys, remain closed at this time.
Please use alternate routes and avoid this area.
The fire was reported at approximately 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, with law enforcement and firefighters on scene within minutes.
The fire is believed to have started in the basement of the two-story structure.
It’s cause is under investigation.
