SPEARFISH, S.D. – Lion Rock Resources says it has found some of the highest gold grades in years at its Volney Project, about 12 miles southwest of Spearfish in the Black Hills.
That’s according to reporting by Northern Plains News.
Surface samples showed gold up to 189 grams per tonne and bedrock samples up to 14 grams per ton.
But these results come from selective grab and chip samples, which may not show the full picture.
The company also reported high lithium and tin values.
The Volney Project sits on private land, allowing faster permitting and drilling.
No resource estimates or economic studies have been done yet.
Lion Rock says more exploration is planned this year.
