Rapid City, SD – May 1, 2025 – Two Rapid City breweries, Lost Cabin Beer Co. and Dakota Point Brewing, have made their mark on the prestigious World Beer Cup, often dubbed the “Olympics of Beer.” The awards ceremony, held in Indianapolis at the conclusion of the Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America, recognized brewing excellence from around the globe.

Lost Cabin Beer Co., known for its innovative and flavorful brews, took home a gold medal in the Table Beer category for their aptly named “Table Beer” and a bronze medal for “Lord Grizzly” in the Scotch Ale category. “Lord Grizzly has been with us since day zero,” says Lost Cabin Co-Founder Jesse Scheilter, “we were dreaming that beer up before Lost Cabin even had a name. Table Beer’s already pulled a GABF medal, and now a World Beer Cup gold? That’s unreal. These aren’t hype beers. They’re dialed, and built to last. Huge shout out to our brew team for their passion, and to the community for drinking local and believing in us with or without medals.”

Table Beer has been featured in the February issue of Craft Beer and Brewing Magazine and took a gold at the Best Craft Beer Awards this March along with a bronze medal for their Buzzards Roost, a black IPA. Table beer is noted as a crisp and refreshing brew that impressed judges with its clean malt flavor, subtle fruit notes, and balanced hop character, proving that even a sessionable beer can achieve world-class status.

Tom Silbernagel, Lost Cabin Co-Founder remarked on the win, “What makes this special is that it’s not about flash. It’s about beers we’ve poured years into – stuff that reflects who we are and how we brew. To have that recognized at the World Beer Cup? That’s huge. It’s a win for the whole crew, and for everyone who has supported what we are building”

These wins add to Lost Cabin’s growing list of accolades and further solidifies their reputation as a brewery dedicated to quality and craftsmanship.

Dakota Point Brewing also garnered recognition, earning a bronze medal in the highly competitive Chili Beer category for their “Tangerine Heat.” This unique wheat ale infused with fresh tangerines showcased the brewery’s creativity and ability to brew flavorful and well-executed beers that stand out. The “Tangerine Treat”, the base for  “Tangerine Heat” has already earned local praise and a silver medal at the 2024 North American Beer Awards and the U.S. Beer Open, making this World Beer Cup recognition another significant achievement for the Rapid City brewery.

Carson Quinn, head brewer and owner of Dakota Point said, “We are super excited to be recognized for our unique and well executed products and believe the variety of our taproom lineup shows how hard we work to make all styles of beer. To be acknowledged for that on the world scale is truly something to be excited about. We are stoked to be a part of the RC brewing community which is continually raising the bar and always trying to improve.”

These wins for Lost Cabin and Dakota Point highlight the thriving craft beer scene in Rapid City and South Dakota. Their success on the world stage demonstrates the dedication, passion, and brewing talent present in the local community. Beer enthusiasts in the region can take pride in knowing that their local breweries are producing beers that can compete with the best in the world.
