As the Black Hills roll into another weekend, Rapid City is revving up with live music, art, and community spirit. Whether you’re craving blues, brushstrokes, or big engines, there’s a little something for everyone on the lineup this Friday and Saturday.

🎸 Friday: Burgers, Blues & Big Energy

Start your weekend with a burger in one hand and a cold one in the other — Johnny Hastings is back at Thirsty’s Burgers & Beer starting at 5:45pm. Expect a setlist full of rockin’ blues, guitar licks that hit just right, and the kind of soulful sound that pairs perfectly with a pub patio evening.

If your night calls for a full dose of live local talent, ABY’s is hosting a powerhouse lineup at 7pm featuring The Tidal Waves, Steve Sherwood, and Vassago. That’s three acts, one stage, and wall-to-wall music in one of downtown’s favorite hangouts.

Then, make your way to Murphy’s Pub for a 9pm set with My Second Rodeo. This Black Hills quartet blends heartfelt originals with timeless classics — the perfect soundtrack for a pint and some good company.

And for the Swifties — Girls’ Night Out is lighting up the dance floor with DJ Cory G and a “Life of a Showgirl” theme inspired by Taylor Swift’s upcoming album. Grab your friends, dress as your favorite Taylor era, and you could take home prizes for best look!

🚘 Saturday: Chrome, Color, and Classic Vibes

The weekend hits the gas at 12pm with the Cruiser Car Show, now back downtown on 6th Street between Main Street Square and City Hall. Presented in partnership with the Rapid City Police Department, the event features gleaming classic cars, custom builds, food trucks, local vendors, and a live performance from Jessica Loobey. Don’t miss the RCPD K-9 demo and a jump castle area for the kiddos — this one’s a family favorite.

For a slower pace and some creativity, swing by Aqua & Acre Market at 5pm for a Watercolor Class with Wild Bloom Art & Design. Local artist Sammi will guide guests through painting a loose landscape. All supplies — and even framing — are included, making this a great hands-on experience for all skill levels.

Finally, wrap up your Saturday night at 707 Nightclub at 7pm for the Guilty Pleasures Orchestra. Featuring South Dakota Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, this legendary group delivers a live concert packed with rock and pop hits from the ’70s and ’80s. Expect a powerhouse sound and a full-on visual experience that takes you straight back to the era of New Wave and arena rock glory.
