RAPID CITY, S.D. — Bouncy castles, face painting, princesses and even inflatable axe throwing are all part of the fun as the 29th Annual YFS Kids Fair returns to Rapid City this spring.
Alex Nichols with Youth and Family Services said this year’s event will take place Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12 at The Monument.
“We’re extremely excited about it,” Alex said. “There’s going to be tons of great vendors, some old, some new, lots of things for kids to do.”
The Kids Fair has become a longtime family tradition in Rapid City, offering two full days of activities designed for young children and their families. Attractions will include bouncy castles, a music area, face painting, balloon artists and large bubble machines that are always a crowd favorite.
New this year is an inflatable rock climbing wall, adding another hands-on activity for kids looking for a little adventure.
“There’s just so much,” Alex said. “Whether it’s the bouncy castles or the music area, there’s something for everyone.”
Families can also expect inflatable axe throwing, complete with soft inflatable axes, making it safe and fun for all ages.
Food vendors will be on site as well. Kona Ice will return, along with Spiffy Snacks and other vendors. Concessions at The Monument will also be open throughout the event.
Several community organizations and local businesses will host booths, including Storybook Island and High Tech Toys. Enchanted Hat is also expected to return with popular character appearances. Alex said guests may even see princesses or other storybook favorites walking around the fair.
In addition to fun activities, the event also serves as a community showcase, connecting families with local organizations and services available in the area.
Tickets will be available at the door. Families can also find more information by visiting youthandfamilyservices.org or calling the YFS office at 605-342-4195.
Youth and Family Services is still accepting vendors and volunteers through March 27. Community members interested in participating can visit the website or contact the office directly.
For nearly three decades, the YFS Kids Fair has provided a weekend focused entirely on children and families. This year promises to bring even more excitement, new attractions and plenty of opportunities to make lasting memories.
