Each winter, Youth and Family Services (YFS) partners with longtime South Dakota musicians to present Holiday for Fiddles—a lively holiday concert that blends camaraderie, musical mastery, and community support. Jeremy LeLaCheur, Communications Coordinator for YFS, shared the excitement surrounding this year’s event. He also emphasized why it has become a cherished seasonal tradition.
A Holiday Event with Heart
Jeremy described Holiday for Fiddles as “a really fun event that gets put on each year at the Performing Arts Center.” He added that it is far from a typical holiday concert. “It’s not your mom’s Christmas orchestra,” he said with a laugh. “They have a lot of fun twists on Christmas songs.”
The show features renowned South Dakota musicians including Kenny Putnam and Bryan Bonde—artists Jeremy referred to as “South Dakota music legends.” More importantly, they are lifelong friends who share an evident joy onstage. “These guys have known each other for years,” Jeremy explained. “They’re friends, and you can really tell they’re friends on stage—just absolute pros that play together in synchronicity.”
Supporting Youth and Strengthening Community
Beyond the entertainment, the event holds a meaningful purpose. “A lot of the proceeds go straight to YFS,” Jeremy noted, helping the organization sustain essential programs.. The blend of artistry and advocacy makes the concert a perfect event for the holiday season.
