
SPEARFISH, S.D. – In weekend wrestling action, the Spearfish girls wrestling team captured the team title of the Black Hills Conference Tournament.
Spearfish finished on top with 202.5 points. Hot Springs was second with 101 and Lead-Deadwood placed third with 71. Custer and Belle Fourche rounded out the top five.
Winning title for the Spartans were Morgan Little (105 pounds), Candice Matsuda (130 pounds), Mathilde Matsuda (140 pounds, Sydney Badwound (170 pounds) and Marlee Heltzel (190 pounds).
The other individual champions were Belle Fourche’s Kyra Vandenberg (100 pounds), Belle Fourche’s AnaaBella Dighton (110 pounds), St. Thomas More’s Gabrielle Nelson (115 pounds), Custer’s Savannah Bell (120 pounds), Hot Springs’ Kadlin Humbracht (125 pounds), Mahpiya Luta’s Tylyn Eagle Bull (135 pounds), Hot Springs’ Sarah Rickenbach (145 pounds), Hot Springs Katie Snyder (155 pounds) and Hot Springs’ Caydan Halls (235 pounds).
On the boy’s side, Custer won the team title scoring 181 points. Hot Springs was second with 178.5 and Belle Fourche was third with 105.5. Spearfish and Douglas/Rapid City Christian rounded out the top five.
Custer crowned champions with Cole Scott (106 pounds), Riley Trout (126 pounds), Bodie Vanderboom (138 pounds) and Riley Scott (150 pounds).
The other individual titles include Hot Springs’ Hazen Rutz (113 pounds), Hot Springs’ Layton Ringstmeyer (120 pounds), Hot Springs’ John Ryder Weiss (132 pounds), St. Thomas More’s Emmett Edwards (144 pounds), Belle Fourche’s Riley Dighton (157 pounds), Douglas/Rapid City Christian’s Paiden Sandal (165 pounds), Hot Springs’ Dean Nathan (175 pounds), Hot Springs’ Hunter Kunz (190 pounds), Hot Springs’ Von Mogen-Frankfort (215 pounds) and Belle Fourche’s Lucas Tonsager (285 pounds).
