RAPID CITY, S.D. — From live comedy and high-energy hockey to immersive theater, music bingo, and reflective new-year rituals, Rapid City is stacked with things to do this weekend. Whether you’re looking to laugh, dance, think, or unwind, here’s a full look at what’s happening Friday and Saturday around town.
Friday, January 9
Music Bingo Returns to Firehouse
Music lovers can kick off Friday night at Firehouse Pizzeria & Wine Cellars with the return of Singo Bingo, starting at 6 p.m.
Instead of numbers, players listen for songs during two themed rounds — Retro 70s followed by Golden Oldies — marking their cards for a chance to win wine. Each round offers three opportunities to win, totaling six chances throughout the evening.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early for Wine Down Happy Hour from 4–6 p.m. and enjoy Firehouse’s new made-to-order pizza kitchen before seats fill up.
Interactive Mystery Dinner at Coffee and the Cats
At 6:30 p.m., guests can step into Regency-era intrigue with Burglary at Bodgerton, an interactive mystery dinner theater experience at Coffee and the Cats.
Set in high society England in 1813, the immersive event invites attendees to assume character roles — debutantes, bachelors, servants — as secrets unravel and a thief lurks among the guests. The evening includes a four-course meal, drinks, exclusive access to the Kitty Cove, and full participation in the mystery, all for $35 per person.
Live Music & Hockey Energy
Local favorite Lonesome Jones returns to the stage at ABY’s from 7–10 p.m., delivering live tunes and laid-back vibes.
At the same time, the Rapid City Rush take the ice at The Monument for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop against the Indy Fuel. The game doubles as Nugget’s 18th Birthday Bash, with mascot friends joining the celebration. It’s also Freedom Friday, offering $16 specialty tickets for active-duty military members and veterans.
Comedy Club Anniversary Celebration
Rounding out Friday night, comedian Brandt Tobler headlines the one-year anniversary celebration at West River Comedy Club with a 7:30 p.m. show.
Originally from Cheyenne and now based in Denver, Tobler has toured internationally, performed for U.S. troops overseas, and appeared on Comedy Central, Fox, and ESPN. He’s also the host of the podcast The 31 and author of the memoir Free Roll. The anniversary shows promise big laughs — and big prizes — as the club celebrates its first year in Rapid City.
Saturday, January 10
A Reflective Start at Mystic Palms Healing
Saturday begins at 1 p.m. with The Year of Your Inner Light Ceremony at Mystic Palms Healing.
The intimate experience blends meditation, affirmation crafting, a releasing ritual, and personalized charm-bag creation using crystals and herbs. Designed to feel cozy and grounding, the ceremony invites participants to let go of the past year and step intentionally into the next.
Dinosaurs, Science & Movie Magic
At 5:30 p.m., Aqua & Acre Market hosts Dinosaur Movie Night, featuring a screening of Jurassic Park led by two paleontologists.
The experts will break down what the film gets right — and wrong — about dinosaurs and paleontology, with time for audience questions. Snacks are included, with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase.
More Hockey, More Comedy, More Music
Saturday night returns to The Monument at 7:05 p.m. for First Responders Night, as the Rush face the Indy Fuel again while honoring the first responders who serve the community.
Comedy fans can catch Night Two of Brandt Tobler at 7:30 p.m. at West River Comedy Club, continuing the anniversary weekend celebration.
The night wraps up with live music at 9 p.m. as Dead River Rebels, a country-rock acoustic duo from Rapid City, take the stage at ABY’s.
