RAPID CITY, S.D. — From hands-on art experiences and immersive dinner theater to live comedy and a full weekend of Rapid City Rush hockey, this weekend is stacked with ways to get out and enjoy everything the Black Hills community has to offer.
Friday Events
Creativity takes center stage Friday afternoon as the Bloom Bar opens at Victoria’s Garden at noon. Guests are invited into the lower-level floral studio to design their own custom arrangements with full creative freedom. For a $5 studio service fee plus the cost of individual stems, participants can create a wrapped bouquet, fill a provided vase, or bring one from home. Flower experts are on hand to assist, making it an inviting experience for beginners and seasoned creatives alike.
Friday evening brings music and friendly competition to Firehouse Wine Cellars with Singo Bingo starting at 6 p.m. The popular music bingo night features two rounds — Country Hits followed by Favorite Sing-Along Songs — offering six total chances to win wine. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for Wine Down Happy Hour from 4 to 6 p.m. and enjoy selections from the new pizza kitchen before the game begins.
At 6:30 p.m., mystery lovers can step into the Roaring Twenties with Murder on the Transcontinental Express at Coffee and the Cats. The immersive dinner experience places guests aboard a luxurious train filled with secretive passengers, hidden motives, and plenty of deception. The evening includes a formal four-course, train-car-style meal as the story unfolds around the table.
Hockey fans can head to The Monument Ice Arena for game one of the weekend series as the Rapid City Rush take on the Utah Grizzlies. Friday’s matchup is Freedom Friday, offering special $17 ticket pricing for active-duty military members and veterans with a valid military ID, courtesy of the Rush’s ongoing community appreciation program.
Comedy rounds out Friday night at West River Comedy Club, where Matt Cobos takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Known for his high-energy delivery and rapid-fire punchlines, Cobos has performed at major comedy festivals and opened for nationally recognized comedians. The show is 21 and older.
Saturday Events
Saturday morning offers a cultural and creative experience at the Dahl Arts Center with a Native Hand Drum class. Participants will learn the art of hand drum and drumstick making, creating a 13-inch drum tie-dyed in black walnut with a matching drumstick. The class provides a hands-on opportunity to connect with traditional craftsmanship and artistry.
Saturday evening brings Rodeo Night festivities to The Monument as the Rush continue their series against Utah. The Coors Banquet Pregame Party begins at 5 p.m. in the Cowboy Bar, featuring live music and free admission with a Rush game ticket. Puck drop follows at 7:05 p.m., with fans encouraged to dress the part for the Western-themed night. Specialty Rodeo Night jerseys will be worn on the ice and auctioned off following the game.
Comedy fans can also catch Next Stop Comedy at Woodland Republic Brewing at 7 p.m. The touring comedy showcase brings a rotating lineup of comedians from across the country, delivering high-energy performances in an intimate brewery setting — ideal for date night or a casual night out with friends.
