RAPID CITY, S.D. — With the season over and the Minnesota Vikings still technically undefeated in the postseason by virtue of not qualifying, offseason speculation took center stage on the latest episode of “Vikings Water Cooler Talk with Stitch and BJ,” presented by GameDay Men’s Health of Rapid City.

The discussion ranged from coaching stability to quarterback uncertainty, as hosts reflected on what could be a pivotal offseason for the Minnesota Vikings.

One of the primary topics was the future of defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who has drawn head coaching interest around the league. While Flores has received limited interviews so far, the hosts noted that Minnesota appears motivated to retain him, especially following the retirement of assistant coach Mike Pettine.

“If Flores doesn’t land the right job, staying in Minnesota makes a lot of sense,” the hosts said, noting that continuity could be critical for a defense that showed significant improvement late in the season.

Quarterback questions also dominated the conversation. With J.J. McCarthy still developing, the Vikings are expected to bring in a veteran option. Names floated included former Viking Kirk Cousins, veteran backup Jacoby Brissett, and even Aaron Rodgers — though the hosts acknowledged Rodgers is unlikely to accept a non-starting role.

“Any competitive quarterback wants a real shot to play,” the hosts said, noting that Cousins could be a more realistic bridge option if circumstances align.

The episode also touched on personnel concerns, including wide receiver Jordan Addison’s off-field issues and whether roster reshuffling could be coming. While acknowledging Addison’s talent, the hosts emphasized the need for maturity and accountability moving forward.

Beyond Minnesota, the conversation expanded to the NFL playoff picture. The hosts highlighted the unpredictability of the wild card round, where multiple games were decided in the final minutes, reinforcing the belief that the Vikings could have competed had they qualified.

Looking ahead to the divisional round, strong confidence was expressed in Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen, whom the hosts described as a “true MVP-type player” capable of carrying his team deep into the postseason. A potential Super Bowl matchup between Allen and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was floated as a dream scenario.

Despite the uncertainty, the tone remained optimistic.

“This is a big year coming up,” the hosts said. “There has to be progress — but the pieces are there.”
