RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says two teenagers died in a single vehicle crash Thursday night, just north of Rapid City, SD.
Preliminary crash information indicates the 16-year-old female driver of a 2015 Lexus ES was traveling northbound on North Haines Avenue near the intersection of Peterson Road. The vehicle went off the road to the left, entering the ditch where it overturned and rolled.
Both the driver and a 15-year-old male passenger were ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. Both were from Rapid City, but their names have not been released yet.
The accident closed Haines Avenue to through traffic for several hours.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
