Thomas Glenn Tifft, 74, passed away on February 1, 2026, in Spearfish, South Dakota. Born on August 15, 1951, in Rapid City, South Dakota, Tommy lived a life deeply connected to ranching in rural Meade County.
Tommy found joy in the enduring pleasures of rural life. He had a lifelong love for horses and mules and was most at peace when driving a team across open country. His bond with animals extended beyond the pasture—he was rarely without the company of several loyal dogs who shared in his daily routines.
He is survived by his daughter Jenni; his son-in-law Esteban; and his grandson Ryan. His extended family includes nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Inez Tifft; his brother, Jerry Tifft; his wife, Brenda Tifft; and their son, Pat Tifft. Their memories remained close to him throughout his life.
A memorial has been established in Tommy’s honor to benefit the Rural Meade County Ambulance Service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to support this because that reflects Tommy’s enduring connection to rural community life.
A private family ceremony will happen at a later date.
