Thomas Gerald Werner, born on May 27, 1949, in Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away on December 22, 2025, in Rapid City, South Dakota. He was a proud graduate of Appleton West High School, where he obtained his diploma in June 1967.
Tom served his country with honor in the United States Air Force from September 1968 to September 1972, during which he held the position of Security Policeman and served valiantly during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his longtime partner and best friend, Susan Kanta and her family, Jerry Jr. Kanta, John Kanta and Kevin Kanta of Rapid City, SD; his son, Jesse (Jen) Werner of Maricopa, AZ; and his brothers, Don (Cindy) Werner of Arlington, TX and Bill (Amy) Werner of Appleton, WI.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Clement (Bud) and Helen (Birling) Werner; and a sister, Nancy whose memories will forever remain cherished.
A burial service will be held on January 2, 2026, at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, South Dakota. The service will commence at 1:30 PM, with the burial beginning at 2:00 PM. All who knew and loved Tom are invited to pay their respects as they honor his remarkable life and service.
