SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Lodge at Deadwood became a Founding Sponsor by generously supporting the sponsorship of a Softball Field at the Spearfish Sportsplex at Sky Ridge.
“Sponsorship of the Spearfish SportsPlex is an exceptional opportunity for local businesses, and we thank The Lodge at Deadwood for providing meaningful support for recreational sports by offsetting the costs associated with the construction of the facility while demonstrating a commitment to the enhancement of Spearfish,” Tyler Ehnes, Parks and Recreation Director, said. “Their sponsorship will be seen by thousands of athletic-minded youth, adults, coaches, families, and friends.”
The 40-acre Spearfish Sportsplex at Sky Ridge, located off Interstate 90’s Exit 17 at the corner of East Colorado Boulevard and U.S. Highway 85, includes four regulation-sized softball fields (with night lighting and scoreboards) and six regulation-sized soccer fields, including one championship-style soccer field complete with lighting. All six fields can be divided into a total of 18 smaller fields for younger age classes. In addition to the fields, two restroom/concession buildings serve the fields, and shade structures are located at every field, including at every softball spectator seating area. The facility also includes a playground, restroom, and large shelter to serve the people using the complex and the adjacent Sky Ridge neighborhood. With this complex, which opened for play in Spring 2024, the City and local associations can host local, state, and regional tournaments that were unattainable before due to limited field space.
“We are excited to be a sponsor of the Spearfish Sportsplex at Sky Ridge, as it provides necessary softball and soccer fields for our community,” The Lodge at Deadwood’s Marketing Director, Troy Ihde, said. “The increased visitor traffic at Sky Ridge, especially with tournaments, will bring even more visitors to Spearfish and the northern Black Hills. This is such an amazing complex to have in our community.”

With upwards of 350 Spearfish youth soccer and 150 youth softball players and more than 600 adult softball players, this complex will meet the current and future needs of our community.”
