AP Decision Notes: What to expect in Tennessee’s special congressional election
Less than a month after Democrats scored big victories in the Nov. 4 general election, voters in a heavily Republican Tennessee congressional district will fill a vacant seat Tuesday in the closely divided U.S. House. Republican Matt Van Epps and Democrat Aftyn Behn are the nominees to replace former GOP Rep. Mark Green. The district includes parts of heavily Democratic Nashville, although most of the district has elected only Republicans to Congress for more than a dozen years. Green and Donald Trump both carried the district in their 2024 races with about 60% of the vote.
