Jon Rahm leads familiar faces starring on Ryder Cup Day 1 for Europe
Europe got off to a strong start at the Ryder Cup thanks to familiar pairings and some of its most dependable players. Jon Rahm looked comfortable playing with Tyrrell Hatton during morning foursomes Friday, then holed three birdies in tandem with Sepp Straka to pick up another point in afternoon fourballs. Rahm is now 8-1-3 at the Ryder Cup dating to his defeat of Tiger Woods in singles play in Paris in 2018. Tommy Fleetwood also contributed to Europe picking up two points on Day 1 by winning foursomes with partner Rory McIlroy and then again in fourballs with Justin Rose.
