Panthers’ Rico Dowdle turns attention on ‘2 pumps’ fine into opportunity to raise funds for charity
Rico Dowdle is turning his NFL fine for a touchdown celebration into a charity event for children in need of adoption. After being fined $14,491 for his “two pumps” celebration on Sunday, Dowdle started a GoFundMe for the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina. By Thursday, he’d raised over $20,000. Dowdle initially joked about raising money to cover his fine, but it evolved into a bigger cause. The celebration inspired by a “Key & Peele” sketch led to jokes and support from comedian Keegan-Michael Key. Despite the penalty, the Panthers won the game.
