Oklahoma strikes sour note with band forced to miss game in Philadelphia because of budget woes

The Pride of Oklahoma marching band has been benched because of budget constraints. The band announced on social media that it couldn’t travel to Philadelphia for Saturday’s game between No. 13 Oklahoma and Temple. Instead, the Saint Joseph’s pep band filled in, leading “Boomer Sooner” at Lincoln Financial Field. The Pride of Oklahoma stated it would still travel to all Big 12 road games this season. The full band will go to Texas, while the pep band will visit South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama. The Pride of Oklahoma has played at OU games for more than a century.
