Doncic criticizes the NBA Cup court, but praises Lakers for support in late-game skirmish with Dunn

Luka Doncic was not pleased by the special NBA Cup court at the Los Angeles Lakers’ downtown arena, calling it “slippery” and “dangerous.” The Slovenian superstar was much happier about the Lakers’ togetherness and toughness after Jaxson Hayes stuck up for him in his latest confrontation with nemesis Kris Dunn. He also plans to pay Hayes’ fine for the resulting technical foul. Doncic had 43 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds during a 135-118 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, but he didn’t feel safe on the new yellow court.

Luka Doncic has begun his first full season with the Lakers on a serious heater. The Slovenian superstar is off to one of the greatest starts to a season in NBA history, following up his 43-point effort on opening night against Golden State with a 49-point spree in Los Angeles’ victory over Minnesota on Friday. He’s the fourth player in NBA history to begin a season with back-to-back 40-point performances. He barely missed a triple-double twice, too. His 92 points are the most to start a season in the history of a team that has employed many of the greatest players ever to pick up a basketball.

Luka Doncic is fully settled in Los Angeles after a year of upheaval, and he is eager to begin his first full season with the Los Angeles Lakers when they host the Golden State Warriors this week. Doncic is coming off a summer of well-documented fitness gains and international hoops success. Everyone could see Doncic was slimmer and faster in his two preseason appearances this month for the Lakers, who brought him back to full game fitness cautiously after his busy summer at EuroBasket.
