Juli Inkster wanted a tune-up for Senior Open. She nearly set an LPGA record
Juli Inkster played her first LPGA event in three years to face competition before the U.S. Senior Women’s Open next week. The 65-year-old Hall of Famer nearly set an LPGA record. Inkster had a pair of bogeys late in her round at The Standard Portland Classic. She shot 74 after a first-round 69 and missed cut by a stroke. JoAnne Carner holds the record as the oldest to make the cut in LPGA history at age 64 in 2004. Inkster says most players today think she is JoAnne Carner. She says she’s disappointed but glad she played.
