Curt Cignetti built a champion at Indiana with what he knew — good players from his former school
Curt Cignetti transformed Indiana’s football program alongside 13 players who followed the coach from James Madison to Bloomington. The players are known as “Cignetti’s Dozen,” and they helped Indiana become a national champion. Among them are standout running back Kaelon Black, prolific receiver Elijah Sarratt and shutdown cornerback D’Angelo Ponds. Defensive lineman Mikail Kamara blocked a punt in the College Football Playoff title game, leading to a touchdown. Cignetti says the players he brought over from JMU understood his program and “had that championship attitude.”
