Former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords returned to the House floor on the 15th anniversary of the assassination attempt that ended her political career. Giffords, accompanied by her husband, Sen. Mark Kelly, received a standing ovation as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries praised her service and advocacy for gun control. Giffords was shot in 2011 while meeting constituents in Tucson, Arizona. She left Congress to focus on recovery. Giffords and Kelly later founded a group advocating for tougher gun laws. Jeffries pledges Democrats will prioritize gun control if they win the House majority in November.
