FDA restricts use of kids’ fluoride supplements citing emerging health risks
The Food and Drug Administration is restricting the use of fluoride supplements used to strengthen childrenโs teeth. The agency said on Friday that the tablets and lozenges should only be used in children three and older who face serious risks of tooth decay. It’s the latest action by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his deputies against fluoride, a chemical that is a mainstay of dental care. The FDA stopped short of seeking to remove the products from the market, which it proposed in May. Instead, manufacturers have been warned not to market the products outside the new age limits.
