Coco Gauff is disappointed by her US Open loss to Naomi Osaka but won’t let it crush her
Coco Gauff has tried to put on a brave face after losing in the fourth round of the U.S. Open for the second year in a row. After Monday’s 6-3, 6-2 exit against Naomi Osaka, Gauff said she would not let this defeat crush her. The No. 3-seeded Gauff won the first of her two Grand Slam titles at Flushing Meadows in 2023. She was undone against Osaka by a slew of groundstroke errors and failed to do her usual strong job of returning in a match that lasted just 64 minutes at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The result was surprising, not just because Gauff was the higher seed also for just how lopsided it was.
