Three Dog Night’s Chuck Negron, voice behind ‘Joy to the World,’ dies at 83

A founding member of the rock band Three Dog Night has died. Chuck Negron’s lead vocals powered hits like “Joy to the World” and “One,” which made the band a top touring act in the late 1960s and early ’70s. His publicist, Zach Farnum, says Negron died at his home in Los Angeles from complications of heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Negron also sang lead on hits “Easy To Be Hard” and “The Show Must Go On.” He was dismissed from the band in 1985 due to recurring drug issues. He was 83.
