Brown is the latest university to turn down the proposal. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology backed away from the proposal last week after its president raised similar concerns. Brown’s president said the university is aligned with some of the provisions in the offer, including commitments to affordability and equal opportunity in admissions, but can’t agree to others.
