Avalanche run their home winning streak to 17 games, one away from matching franchise record

The Colorado Avalanche are riding a hot streak at home by winning 17 straight games at Ball Arena since losing in a shootout to Carolina in late October. They have a chance to tie their team record Monday night against Toronto. Playing at high elevation and in front of a loud crowd might be factors, but standout defenseman Cale Makar joked the the success is simply not talking about it. Colorado has the sixth-longest home win streak in NHL history and has yet to lose at Ball Arena in regulation this season. Despite missing key players, the Avalanche have the best record in the league and a 12-point lead over their closest rivals.
