Arkansas fires coach Sam Pittman in middle of 6th season with 32-34 record
Arkansas has fired Sam Pittman as head coach after a 32-34 record. Offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, who previously coached Arkansas before leaving in scandal, is now interim head coach. Athletic director Hunter Yurachek announced the decision on Sunday, citing the need for a change to make the team more competitive. The move follows a 56-13 loss to Notre Dame. Pittman became head coach in December 2019. Yurachek says a national search for a new head coach will begin immediately, with Petrino as a candidate. Petrino was rehired in November 2023 after several other coaching roles.
