SUMMERSET, S.D. – The Summerset Police Department announces that Shannon Butler, 51, has been indicted by a Meade County Grand Jury in connection with drug and firearm charges in Summerset. Butler was indicted on Dec. 22, 2025, on the following charges:
Possession of Firearm By One With Prior Drug Conviction, Unauthorized Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A warrant has been issued for Butler’s arrest. Bond has been set at $2,500 cash or surety. Anyone with information regarding Butler’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Summerset Police Department at 605-721-6806.
The case was investigated by the Summerset Police Department.
As with all criminal proceedings, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
