STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Council Monday night voted to accept legal services from Nelson Law.
They were one of three the council had to choose from for services. The other two were Sword Law Firm and Strain Law Firm.
Established in 2017, Nelson Law is a criminal defense ?rm owned by Nathaniel Nelson with offices in Sturgis and Rapid City. Their office operations and practice are supported by two full-time legal assistants, Mary Lentz and Cindy Vleim.
The council will draft a professional services contract to be acted upon at a future meeting.
This follows the resignation of City Attorney Mark Marshal earlier.
Rather than hire a new city attorney, the city council decided to contract for legal services.
