Sturgis receives welcome December 2025 sales tax report

STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council received a welcome December 2025 sales tax report at their meeting Monday night.

The report showed a 6.12-percent increase of December of 2024. In fact, City Administrator Aaron Jordan says the city recorded it highest ever General Sales Tax collections in 2025, totaling $2.5-million for the twelve-month period.

He says this reflects a 4.56-percent increase over 2024 and a 4.989-percent increase over 2023.

The city collected $498,923 in special sales tax, or also known as the Triple-B, during 2025, representing the second-highest annual total on record. Jordan says while this amount is 1.44-percent lower than in 2024, which remains the highest year at $501,531, it is 3.49-percent higher than 2023.
