STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater says a standoff with police ended peacefully Saturday morning in north Sturgis.
Vandewater says Friday night, officers responded to a residence after receiving reports that a male subject had discharged a round inside his home and threatened his wife, whom he believed was having an affair.
He says the individual was experiencing a mental health crisis and exhibiting signs of hallucinations.
Officers were able to safely remove the wife from the residence.
A warrant was obtained, and this morning the subject was taken into custody without incident.
Vandewater says the subject was undergoing a mental health evaluation.
