RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police said Thursday night they are continuing to work through a call regarding gun shots being heard in a neighborhood.

The residence where the gunshots occurred has been secured, and several juveniles and adults have been detained.

Police say no one was injured during this incident.

Police say the incident began earlier Thursday afternoon as multiple units responded to the scene near the intersection of Prairie Avenue and Tallent Street for a report of gunshots heard in the area.

Witnesses reported seeing several subjects run into a nearby residence following the gunshots. Several shell casings were been recovered from just outside the house.

Police say South Middle School and South Park Elementary were placed on secure status as a precaution, and police say there were no indications the incident was related to the schools.
