RCP&E Railroad makes donation

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City, Pierre & Eastern Railroad (RCPE) today announced that it has made donations to the South Dakota Ag Foundation and the South Dakota State Railroad Museum, part of the railroad’s celebration of 10 years since startup on June 1, 2014.

“These contributions are a way for RCPE to give back – a thank you of sorts to the communities and customers along our line for entrusting us to operate safely and provide the critical freight transportation service they depend on,” says RCPE General Manager Ryan Englebright. “The State Railroad Museum has done a terrific job preserving and conveying the history of railroads in our state. And with agriculture representing the lion’s share of our business across the state, RCPE appreciates the South Dakota Ag Foundation’s commitment to developing the next generation of agricultural leaders in the state.”

Located in Hill City, the South Dakota State Railroad Museum has multiple model rail setups as well as a plethora of railroad memorabilia.

“Both RCP&E and our museum are in a unique position to not only promote each other’s missions and operations, but also to educate museum visitors and the public about common goals – rail safety, service and history,” said Rick Mills, curator of the South Dakota State Railroad Museum.

The South Dakota Ag Foundation was established in 2015 as an independent nonprofit and has more than $3 million in endowed funds, through which it awards grants to various statewide organizations that help to develop today’s and identify tomorrow’s agricultural leaders.
