RAPID CITY, South Dakota – The Veteran’s Honor Banner Project of Rapid City has announced two key upcoming dates for sponsors and the local community.

The all-volunteer organization will host its annual banner cleaning and inspection on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026. The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Naja Shrine Center located at 4091 Sturgis Rd. in Rapid City.

Project organizers noted this is the only annual opportunity for sponsors to personally handle their loved ones’ banners and take photographs. Volunteers and any sponsors who wish to help clean their veteran’s banner are invited to attend.

In addition to the cleaning event, the project is reminding the public that the deadline for new banner purchases or banner renewals is Feb. 1, 2026.

The program, which features large vinyl banners with veteran images, saw significant growth in 2025 with hundreds of displays appearing throughout downtown and across Rapid City. The project manages the creation, ongoing maintenance, storage, and seasonal installation of the banners.

Banners are typically displayed from just before Memorial Day in May through Veteran’s Day in November.

Those seeking more information about the cleaning event or routine renewal questions can contact the organization at info@VeteransHonorBannerProject.com.
