RAPID CITY, South Dakota – Rapid City Area Schools officials announced that while school remains in session today, Jan. 16, student transportation is canceled due to inclement weather conditions.
District representatives stated that all bus routes are suspended for the day. Students who are unable to attend classes in person because of the lack of transportation will be marked with a weather-exempt absence. Parents and guardians are asked to contact their child’s school directly to report these absences.
District officials reminded families that student safety is the primary factor in transportation decisions.
Additionally, there is no school scheduled for Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, or Tuesday, Jan. 20, which is designated for staff professional development.
