Who was your favorite teacher and why?

Tina Rank: Oh, mine happened to be my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Revere… She always had that grandma persona to me… Just that loving, caring, nurturing.

Ali Williams: Mine was a second grade teacher, Mrs. Kling. She was brand new, out of school, and we were her first class. She had so much excitement and so much she  wanted to share with us. I think we were always learning something new.

What was your favorite thing to play during recess?

Tina Rank: Honestly, I didn’t like recess… If I could find a way to weasel my way into staying in the classroom, that’s what I did.

Ali Williams: We did a lot of group jump rope.

If you could work for Rapid City School District, what position would that be?

Tina Rank: Honestly, I think I’d be the lunch lady.

Ali Williams: That’s exactly what I was going to say!

What was your favorite subject in school?

Tina Rank: Science… Hence why I was going to be a doctor.

Ali Williams: I liked reading.

What was your favorite food from the school cafeteria?

Tina Rank: Oh. Teriyaki chicken. Back when it was gooey.

Ali Williams: We had chili and caramel rolls and cheese sticks.

Why are you a supporter of our public schools and/or public education?

Tina Rank: I support it because I think learning is a community engagement deal. And to learn on your own in seclusion is kind of hard, because there is so much to learn in being part of a community and that learning community.

Ali Williams: I think it offers so much more for our students. Having my own kids come into the schools, I think it’s offered so many things that they might not have offered in a different setting.
