
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City Police say following results of an autopsy, the death of a man whose body was found this week is being investigated as a homicide.
The deceased individual is identified as 43-year-old Randall Lonehill of Rapid City.
Police say based on evidence gathered in the ongoing investigation, they have no reason to believe the incident was random in nature.
At approximately 4:35 p.m. on Jan. 26, police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of E. North Street after receiving a report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, law enforcement located Lonehill within an improvised outdoor encampment set up near the railroad tracks.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted jointly with investigators of the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
