Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Injured In Morning Collision

RAPID CITY, SD — At 7:00 this morning police were dispatched to the intersection of Campbell and E. Saint Patrick St. following a report that an individual had been struck by a moving vehicle in the vicinity.

Upon arrival, police discovered the unidentified victim, who was seriously injured and quickly evacuated from the scene to receive immediate medical attention. 

“After speaking with witnesses and examining the scene, police determined that the pickup was westbound on Saint Patrick Street when it began to turn south onto Campbell Street,” said Brendyn Medina of the RCPD. “During the turn, the vehicle struck a pedestrian within the crosswalk”. Police at this time do not believe alcohol or other impairment was a factor in the incident, and the unidentified driver recieved a citation for Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.

The incident is being investigated by the RCPD’s Critical Accident Reconstruction Team (CART) as of the time of writing.
