RAPID CITY, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of the individuals involved in a fatal, two-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday morning 13 miles west of Rapid City.
Margo Lea Howard, 51, of Lambert, Montana, was killed in the collision on Sheridan Lake Road near Boulder Hill Road at 6:51 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2025.
Preliminary crash information indicates Willard D. Howar, Jr., 52, of Rapid City, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Sheridan Lake Road. While descending a long icy hill, the Chevrolet reportedly crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on. The Jeep was driven by Allison K. Henderson, 29, of Rapid City, South Dakota.
Margo Lea Howard was a passenger in the Silverado and sustained fatal injuries. Neither she nor the driver, Willard D. Howard, Jr., were wearing seat belts. Willard D. Howard, Jr. sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
Henderson, the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash. All information released is preliminary.
