Michael David Anderson was born Dec. 18, 1962, at Beale AFB, California to Kenneth and Mary Anderson. Mike was born into a military family and lived in seven states before Ken retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1979 and moved to Newell, SD. Mike was involved in the highly successful One Act Play at Newell High School, winning awards at the state level. Mike also played trombone in the high school band and spent time fixing up his treasured Chevy Impala. Mike graduated from Newell High School in 1981 and worked for the State Highway Department and on various construction projects around western South Dakota until 1986, when he moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where he met and married his beloved wife, Janet. Mike worked for Royal Crest Dairy as a milkman, delivering milk door-to-door and worked his way up to a management position. In recent years, Mike served as a transportation manager for special needs citizens and sold flooring. Mike enjoyed spending his free time with his wife, daughter and grandkids.

Mike passed away suddenly in Colorado Springs on Jan. 7, 2026 at the age of 63.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, and his mother, Mary, and is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janet; his daughter, Ryan Nicole, and three grandchildren, Corey, Lillian, Michael, Jr.; his siblings, Terry (Pam) Anderson of Sturgis, SD; Greg Anderson of Milwaukee, WI; and Scott (Lori) Anderson of Summerset, SD; five nieces, Allison Anderson, Courtney Cihak, Kirsten Anderson, Lindsey Scott and Lexy Koch; and three nephews, Sam and Casey Anderson and Nicholas Oines.

Mike will be laid to rest on Friday, Jan. 30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W. Colorado Ave in Colorado Springs. A Rosary will be held at the church at 9:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Mike’s hometown of Newell, South Dakota.
