Update from the RCPD 1/18/26 at 3:19pm – The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Police determined there were six juvenile occupants in the Jeep Wrangler at the time it left the roadway and rolled. Five occupants were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. A female occupant died at the hospital. Her identification is being withheld until proper notification of next-of-kin. Another occupant recieved critical injuries, while three others were treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.Â
The investigation into the specific circumstances of the crash remains active, and is being led by the RCPD’s Critical Accident Reconstruction Team (CART).
Rapid City, SD – Authorities are investigating a serious single-vehicle crash that left multiple people hospitalized Saturday evening in Rapid City.
Police and medical units responded to the 2500 block of Arrowhead Drive, close to Meadowbrook Elementary, at approximately 6pm tonight, January 17th, following reports of a rollover incident. Upon arrival, emergency responders located a vehicle that had overturned.
Multiple occupants were found to have sustained serious injuries during the crash. Medical personnel transported the victims to a local hospital for urgent treatment. The exact number of individuals involved and their current conditions have not been released by officials.
Police officials stated that further information regarding the cause of the accident and the identities of those involved will be released as the investigation progresses.
