Sturgis, SD – Dana Caldwell, an original staff member and the longtime general manager of KBHB Radio has died. He was 89. Caldwell passed away Sunday night at Monument Health, Rapid City.
HomeSlice Corporation CEO Dean Kinney, Caldwell’s successor GM at KBHB, now a subsidiary of HomeSlice, said it is hard to measure what Caldwell meant to the team at the heritage, ag-focused radio station. “Dana remained our boss, long after he retired. We all had so much respect for him. Whenever he called to give us his feedback, we all listened. He was instrumental in my career, to say the least,” Kinney said, “to this day, I often ask myself, ‘what would Dana do?’ He was a true mentor, whose lessons will guide us always.”
Dana Caldwell started at KBHB even before the station signed on in 1962. He later also led KRCS-FM, and partnered in radio stations in Dickinson, North Dakota. Caldwell, a Black Hills area business leader for decades, retired in 2001.
