Midwest rock favorites Judd Hoos are returning to Rapid City on Friday, January 23 for a special collaborative performance with Nashville based artist Jessie G at 707 Nightlife, ‘The Park.’
Billed as Judd Hoos plus Jessie G, the show is designed as a fully integrated performance rather than a traditional opener and headliner format. Jessie G will serve as the featured vocalist throughout the night, performing alongside Judd Hoos for the entire set.
Shane Funk of Judd Hoos said the collaboration grew out of the band’s recent evolution and past musical partnerships. “We decided to go a different direction and try collaborating with different singers,” Funk said. “Jessie is super talented, really down to earth, and just great to work with. It felt like the right fit.”
Rather than dividing the night into separate sets, Funk said the band and Jessie G will mix originals and covers throughout the show. “There won’t be a defined segment of this is hers and this is ours,” he said. “We’re going to mix and match and make it feel like one cohesive show.”
Judd Hoos has built a reputation as a strong live act, performing more than 100 shows per year across clubs, theaters, festivals and fairs. The band has shared the stage with artists including Billy Idol, Bret Michaels, Third Eye Blind, Puddle of Mudd, Buckcherry, and Elle King.
Jessie G brings national credentials of her own, having toured extensively and collaborated with Gretchen Wilson. Her music has charted on country radio, and she performed the National Anthem during the 2024 NFL Thanksgiving Day game, which reached more than 34 million viewers.
Musically, the January 23 show will feature a wide range of material. Jessie G is expected to perform covers from artists including Reba McEntire, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Gretchen Wilson, Paramore, Linda Ronstadt, Journey and The Chicks. Judd Hoos will deliver fan favorites from bands such as Alice In Chains, Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin, along with additional selections from Kings of Leon, Gorillaz, Tame Impala and Tom Petty.
Funk said the band is excited to bring the show to Rapid City after several rehearsed performances elsewhere. “It’s fun to see it all come together,” he said. “We’re glad Rapid City gets to see it once we’ve got everything dialed in.”
The show takes place Friday, January 23, at 707 Nightlife. Doors open at 7 p.m. with a social hour, and music begins at 8 p.m. The event is open to ages 21 and older.
