Four Oglala Sioux Tribal Members Detained by ICE

Pine Ridge, SD – Oglala Sioux Tribe(OST) President Frank Star Comes Out announced on social media that four tribal members were recently detained by ICE (Department of Homeland of Security) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The incident has prompted a formal response from tribal leadership regarding the legal rights of Native Americans in relation to federal immigration enforcement.

According to a statement from the Office of the President of the OST, the four men were homeless and living near the Little Earth housing project at the time of their detention. An Oglala Sioux Tribal member who witnessed the event was able to confirm their tribal affiliation, though their specific names were not immediately available.

President Star Comes Out stated that tribal attorneys have been directed to contact Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan to determine the current location of the men and confirm their identities. The Oglala Sioux Tribe has expressed readiness to provide enrollment documentation to federal officials to secure their release.
