RAPID CITY, S.D. – Work is complete on the new runway at Ellsworth Air Force Base. With the finish of the ten-month project, the base is one-step closer to being ready for the new B-21 Raiders stealth fighters. The completion also means that the B-1 Lancers can return along with airmen who had temporarily been reassigned to the Grand Forks Base. The beginning of the nearly $130 million reconstruction of the runway back on January 25 meant seventeen B-1 bombers and many airmen had to be relocated.
